Privacy Policy
DiaryOnce is an app that keeps your diary for you alone. This policy explains what information the app uses and why, and what you can control.
Your diary entries
The entries, titles and moods you write are stored only on your phone. DiaryOnce does not send them to its own server, read them or share them with anyone. DiaryOnce has no such server.
If Android's automatic backup is on, your entries and app settings are copied to your Google account's backup so they can come back when you change phones. Google stores this backup; you can turn it off in your phone's settings.
When you use "Export" or "Save as text", the file is saved wherever you choose. Where that file is kept and who it is shared with is up to you.
Your account
You sign in to DiaryOnce with your Google account; sign-in is handled by Google's Firebase Authentication service. This service stores your Google account name and email address. Your Google password never reaches DiaryOnce; Google handles the check.
You can delete your account at any time from My Account > Delete account. When you delete your account, both your sign-in information in Firebase and the entries on your phone are deleted. This cannot be undone.
App lock
The app lock uses your phone's own screen lock and biometrics. Your fingerprint, face data or phone password never reach DiaryOnce; your phone does the check and only tells the app the result.
Payments
Premium payments are taken through Google Play. Your card details never reach DiaryOnce. The app only learns from Google Play whether your membership is active.
Ads
Users without Premium are shown ads through Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, AdMob may use your device's advertising ID, IP address and device information. Google processes this information; DiaryOnce does not see or store it.
In the European Union and the United Kingdom, your consent is asked before ads are shown. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's settings. No ads are shown with Premium.
You can find out how Google uses this information here: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
Reminders
Reminders are scheduled and shown on your phone. No information is sent for them.
Support messages
When you send a message from My Account > Support and feedback, your message, the topic you choose and your Google account's email address are forwarded to our support inbox so we can reply. If "Add device info" is on, the app version, phone model, Android version and your membership status are added too; you see the line that will be sent in the form and can turn it off. Your entries are never sent.
When you write to us through the form at diaryonce.com/en/contact, your message, the topic you choose and the email address you enter are forwarded to our support inbox in the same way.
Messages are converted to email and forwarded through Cloudflare's servers; Cloudflare does not store them. To prevent abuse, the number of messages you send in a day is counted for two days; on the web form this count uses a one-way hash of your IP address, and the IP address itself is not stored. Support emails are kept until the conversation ends, and for at most one year; if you'd like them deleted sooner, just write to support@diaryonce.com.
This website
diaryonce.com is hosted by Cloudflare. To serve pages and prevent abuse, Cloudflare processes your IP address and browser information. The country you connect from is used only to open the site in your language; it is not stored.
If you choose a language from the language menu, your choice is saved in a cookie (diaryonce-dil) for one year so it's remembered on your next visit. Your light or dark theme choice is stored only in your browser.
Ads are shown on the home page through Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google Ads Settings. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, your consent is asked before advertising cookies are used.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version is published in the app and on this page, and the date at the top changes.
